I'll reinforce scott's Xtant recommendation. I have an X604, and there's a reason it's expensive. Other than that, Zapco, old Linear Power (late '80s) and early-to-mid '90s Orion and RF. I've grabbed many a used amp as above and haven't had any significant issues. Buying new only limits your ability to get better quality for your money.

It came across as your point is correct and others are not valid. The gentleman solicited opinions from fellow members and I offered mine. Im not an expert but I know what sounds good and what doesnt. The system in my car rocks and others who do know alot more than me are very impressed.Thought I would try to help a fellow Corvette person out,just as people helped me out when I was asking for opinions a couple of months ago.No harm no foul.Happy Thanksgiving.
