First time poster, long time lurker. As I await the delivery of my new (to me) 2002 Z06 (my first vette EVER BTW), I know that I want to replace the stock Bose system with something a little better This forum has been wonderful with all of the information provided in helping me plan out my system. Initial plans would be a new head unit, new component door speakers, an 8" or 10" sub, and roughly a 70W x4 RMS 4/3/2 channel amp to power everything. I am not the smartest person when it comes to car audio and have a question / seeking advice about the subwoofer placement. I do plan on installing a partition in the car. I REALLY like the idea of placing the sub in a "stealth box", as it will allow me to keep the trunk somewhat "useful", however, my concern would be that the partition would pretty much "cancel" out the sub. So the next placement obviously would be to mount the sub in the partition facing the front of the car, but this is not my first choice for various reasons. So, my question to you, the experts, is would I still get an effective sounding sub if I place it in a stealth box behind a partition? Or am I kidding myself and need to mount the sub in the partition in order to "hear" it? I am not looking to set off car alarms or wake small children with my stereo, just looking for a nice smooth sounding system. I am a child of the 80's and mostly listen to that type of music (pop, big hair bands) with a bit of mainstream hip hop and rock and roll mixed in if I am feeling "edgy" LOL! Also, this may matter, the car will have a pretty loud exhaust on it (long tubes, no cats, B&B Bullets), so I will need the volume turned up a bit when cruising down the road with the windows down. Thanks in advance!
definitely go with a 10 or bigger... there's virtually no such thing as an 8" sub.
maybe the 8w7.
Ya, good point. 10" it is. As Aerosmith once said, "She just loves my big ten inch."
BADMFR (what does BADMFR stand for anyway?? ) : Looks great, just not my first option if I can avoid it. I am hoping that somebody can confirm that placing the sub in the cargo well behind a partition is a viable, usable option.

Lots of people use the rear well. Search for user NVTHIS, he sells well built and fairly priced boxes for such a thing.
my favorite sub set up is a quality single 12 with about ~400 watts.
I have a single 12" in the center rear well . The partition is made of MDF and vinyled and most of that surface area also has an amp tray covering it up. The bass is not reduced by any ascertainable amount.
