Default '07 base system

I have asked so many questions about this that I've lost track of where/what I've asked. I have been getting so many "opinions" yet no one seems to know the real answer.

Local shop SWEARS he can add a module to my BASE '07 system. On the forums it seems the majority think I need the base '08 system to add the module and have it work through the head unit.

Do I take a gamble that the local guy knows? He has to order in the "parts" and if it doesn't work, he will allow a credit toward an aftermarket system + I gotta pay labor. Hmmmm

PLEASE, anyone have 1st hand info?

Thanks,
Don

Um... a "module"? What kind of module are you talking about?

If this guy claims there is any difference in the systems from '05-'08 aside from the addition of the AUX port in '08 then he doesn't know what he's talking about....

It is the XM receiver "module". The '08 aux port is what enables XM to be added to it and NOT the '07?

The '08 Aux port is what lets you put a portable XM unit that you have to control from the unit, not the integrated XM like the factory. What this guy is likely to install is a wired-in FM modulator where you'll tune in the stereo to an FM station and control XM via a separate unit. This still does not get you integrated control but it will definitely sound better than using a wireless modulator.

Though now I understand what you were originally asking I unfortauntely still can't answer the question with any certainaty. XM can be integrated like a factory install by your dealer, but I have no experience with the base system so I don't know if it's possible with that. If XM was offered as an option (I'm now 2 years removed from the buying process) for your car then it should be able to be added.
