Ok so ive been reading the thread on how to create a mp3 cd for the nav/bose system(i have an 07). Ive tried using the drag and drop into the cd burner in windows explorer mode, wont make a cd readable on the nav. Ive tried using Sonic RecordNow, got songs to play, but one song would be repeated 7-8 for the next songs numbers. Now im using nero 7 ultra, and TRYING to make a mixed mode cd. All of the filenames have been shortened so they wont go over 32 characters even with the .mp3 tag. Problem is, i have 92 songs which =588mb of data, when i upload them into the compilation section, its showing as being over 4gigs worth of music. WTF am i doing wrong. i love the nav system, and bose speakers surprisingly for being a stock setup, but i wont hestitate to rip it out and just use my ipod.
Make sure you're burning them as MP3's. It sounds like Nero is set to burn the MP3's as wav. files.
I think the max# of characters is 25, not 32.
Also make sure that your CD is Finalized. You can't use a session that you can add to later. Also check type of disc you are using is compatible.
I used Nero to make MP3 cds plenty of times without error.
Personally, get rid of the CD's and go for the direct Ipod link. I use the USASPEC Vette PA-11. I set it in direct mode. I have to change playlists, on the Ipod, but the steering wheel controls still work. I don't worry about title and artist, cause I know all the songs on my POD.
It's definitely inconsistent as hell. The unit also doesn't handle MP3's that are variable bit rate very well. You'll get part-way through a song and it will lose its way and move on to the next song. One of the many, many reasons my '06 NAV is coming out and an Alpine W205 will be going in.

Nero 7 can make good MP3's. You need to be making an audio MP3 CD. Sounds like your "mixed CD" is a straight audio CD. And although the manual says the filename limit is 32, 32 has never worked for me and 30 and 31 only work sometimes. I limit mine to 29 (25 +".mp3"). Long names results in the multiple plays you are seeing as well as missing songs. (Google AF5)
To get the display working right, make sure you are using ID3 tags of version 1.0 or 1.1 and not the 2.x that Windows wants to create (Google ID3TagIt). Don't bother with variable bit rates is you want to avoid a lot of frustration. Always finalize the disc even with a CD-R. Once you learn the secrets, perfect MP3s are easy to make.
I ended up redownloading itunes ( /ghey ), fell in love with mgtek dospip with wmp/ipod . But it made a complete cd, cept one song i had was a techno mix lasted little over an hour and 3min into the song, music cut out and counter still counted time. one song out of 88 isnt bad.
and yes Komo, thats one of the threads i read through.
the ipod mod box should be coming in a few days, havent seen anyone use it on the board, but they say you have full control over ipod, dont have to make playlist either, hopefully its not the too good to be true ordeal.
