Actually Valentine One has the most pointless features. Who cares what direction the radar came from...what matters is that when you get a hit, you slow down. With that in mind you want a unit that picks up real hits, therefore the new Passport 9500i is the best choice.

You are so wrong it is unbelievable. I guess the majority of Corvette owners disagree with you and they find the arrows very useful for some reason. Why are you putting up a link to a site that doesn't sell the V1 when you know they are going to be promoting the flawed and expensive Escort 9500i?

Escort Passport 9500i 42 votes 27.63%
Valentine V1 110 votes 72.37%

Voters: 152.

There are big problems with the new Escort 9500i and the majority of people are returning them because of less range than the Valentine One.

http://www.guysoflidar.com/march-200...ctor-test.html

They are locking out signals from door openers and the 9500i is not alerting to cops that shoot radar in that area. Owners of the 9500i are also complaining that signals that they lock out are not staying locked out from the day before. They also say that their Sirius/XM radio is cutting out because of the 9500i and its GPS function.

Here is a video of the 9500i locking out police radar and not alerting to it.

Jeez didn't mean to insult you!

But I just can't see the need for arrows in a radar detector. I could care less where the radar is coming from. That type of gimmick doesn't impress me because when I get a hit I will slow down and am not concerned with what direction it came from.

I'm not saying the V1 is junk, it just seems to have only one selling point that really isn't needed and certainly doesn't justify the premium price.

I thought the same as you before I had one. Trust me the arrows are NOT just a gimmick. Give one a try and I think you will agree. Plus, it's not the only selling point IMO. The fact that it is the most sensitive and effective unit out there according to the numerous tests I have seen are a pretty good selling point to me.

I understand the arrows work but again, why would I care about the direction of the signal?

I care what direction it is so i know where he is at. i do not need to slow down if he is on the other side of the highway.

You will find non v1 owners very defensive about their radar purchase in my opinion they wish they had one or would not act the way they do.

V1 has 2 antennas in it for forward and reverse detection plus multiple bogey detection.

If i see an arrow light up that something is ahead of me and behind me i may pass up one cop and think i am clear and then wham.. SPEED TRAP that is why you want the arrows and know where they are at.

When i hear an alert i also want a visual verification.
V1 to the bank

The reason everybody buys a radar detector is so they know where the cop is that is trying to ticket them. With a V1 you can actually "locate" where the cop is that is trying to give you a ticket. With every other detector, you just know that the cop is somewhere close so you might want to look around 360 degrees until you find them.

Ask yourself these questions. Which gives you more information about a cop, an arrow or a beep? Why don't compasses and GPS systems use beeps instead of arrows? Because arrows are very useful and convey information quicker than a stupid beep.

I haven't purchased one yet but I am leaning towards the Valentine 1. It also has a bogey counter to show how many sources are tracking you.

This was a bad example but I get your point.
