I can handle radios and amps just fine, but messing with stuff like the VSS circuit is something I tend to avoid. Other than hooking up my D3 to it at the 12 pin plug behind the radio that is. I'll take a look in the manual tomorrow morning and see if it's something obvious.
Congrats on getting the D3 working. Did you do the bypass? I don't plan on watching too many movies while driving down the road, but it is nice to be able to change the nav directions without pulling over.
Yes, I did the bypass and the nav works great while driving, but back to the Piece of S**t GMOS, the VSS wire also hooked up to it. Maybe i should cut that wire too. And how do you get the check engine light off.
Let me go out on a limb here and say yes, cut the VSS wire away from the GMOS. It only needs to be connected to the D3.
I would also venture a guess that your speedo will start functioning normally and the CEL will (eventually) go out as well. Without a scan tool you can't do in manually on a C6.
Are there any other wires that you connected to the GMOS that we don't know about
When I talked to Metra tech I asked about directly bypassing the GMOS-04 with the amp out from the D3 and he said it's been tried and people have audio problems when the doors are closed...sounds like what you're going thru. Hook up the $6 relay and that help.
take a picture of the front side of the box of the GMOS-04.....and I can tell you your problem.....
There was a metra send back of the GMos-04 at my store, and since we got the new ones in, I have installed them into 3 vettes, including my own. Never a problem.
Its GMOS-04 by Axxess a Digital Interface from Metra.
The Box is grayish with blue trim tone. It also states:
02-up onstar harn w/chime/amp 06/07
Got the AVIC-D3 Unit from ti-motorsports in Florida, along with Harness, Trim Bezel and antenea.
dude
If feel you pain. I had the exact same set of problems with the gmos4. After 2 weeks of messing around I pulled it and put in the peripheral harness and everything worked perfect.
06c6a6, glad everything worked out. What exactly did you install. I plan on the: D3, Sirius Tuner, iPod hookup, and I'll probably disable the lock that allows you to watch movies while driving or while using the navigation.

What you described is EXACTLY what I put into my '07 just over a month ago. Check out post #26 of this thread for my brief description of the install. I also just got done (literally, about 20 minutes ago) installing a license plate backup camera. That thing is cool, I highly recommend one if you're going to install the D3.
Markcz, looks good. I can't wait to order it, its killing me. Not sure if your iPod is a video one or not but if it was would you be able to play them off of the iPod?
I like your change cup. I have one exactly like that. Mine is cut from a styrofoam cup.
I have a 5th gen 60 Gig video iPod, and the videos will play on the D3, you just have to control them from the iPod. Music is controlled from the D3, but once you hit the iPod video button on the D3 it tells you to control them from the iPod.
I made the change cup out of the body of an old pneumatic cylinder that was being thrown away at work. I like it too!
Thanks for the help looks like I'll be wiring the iPod wire into the center console then so I can control it without reaching across to the glovebox. Ahhhh the wait is killing me and I haven't even ordered it yet.

Be careful with the iPod in the center console. I haven't read anything from C6 owners yet, but several iPods have been cooked to death in the console of C5's. Mine is in the glove box.
