The pillar cover does pop off. May want to consider somewhere above the rear view mirror in the center of the car) shouldnt get any noisier there and the passenger can speak also. But you will be able to get your face closer to it on the pillar.
No biggie. I'd duct tape it somewhere and use it for a few days while I decided. It will be easey to move.
I just installed my z2 this past weekend and that thing is awesome. I mounted the mic on the visor and ran the wire behind the A-pillar trim. I am charging my camera now and will take some pictures this afternoon of the head unit, and sub/amp install. I hope you got the bluetooth module. I have made and received several calls form the car and it is a pretty sweet hands free setup.

Sounds sweet. Would love any pics you have.
Yes, I got Ipod / bluetooth / rearview cam Thanks, Mark
After taking the picture of the mic I noticed the wire is not all of the way hidden. I'll get that taken care of after lunch. I also replaced the stock speakers with Polk momo 6.5 components in the doors and 5.25 coax in the back. As they say in the McDonald's commercials, "I'm lovin it!!" Have fun with your install.
Mounted mine to the headliner above the rear view mirror. sorry no pics. It looks ok from the front as it is hidden by the tint on the windsheild and blends in from the back.
Given it is winter here I have not tried it yet with the top down to see how much wind noise it picks up.
The install is super simple. Just pop the doors off the cubby and slide the boxes into the cubby. You have to apply some pressure to get the top of the box past the clip that holds the top in, but I think that's a good thing. Plus the box fits snuggly into the cubby. I screwed the amp into both boxes to lock it all together. It's not bolted into the car, but it's not coming out either. I tugged on it for all different kinds of angles and it is good enough for me. If i want to take it out, I just pull the 4 screws out of the amp and pull the boxes out.
