Default Non-Vette help needed

This may be a long shot, but hopefully someone can help me out.

I installed a Kenwood DDX7019 in a 2004 GMC Yukon. I absolutely love this unit and everything works great except for the automatic screen dimmer.

My question is; which wire can I tap into to get the sync feature on the screen dimmer to work? I tried the dimmer wire on the PAC OS2-BOSE harness but it didn’t work. Is there another wire to use? Maybe a wire going to the HVAC controls that I could tap into?

Here is the feature that I am trying to get to work:
Dimmer: The dimmer function will dim this unit's display automatically when the vehicle light switch is turned On when you connect orange/white Illumination wire of this player.

It could be your Yukon dimming works like the C6 where there isn't an illumination wire present in the harness. In that case a C6-like workaround may be necessary. Is there a dash button (or buttons) that light up only when the headlights are on? If so, try tapping the power lead to one of those buttons (the wire that's hot when the light is on) and tie that into the illumination wire on your aftermarket head. When the lights come on, the head will dim.

I believe you are correct. There is no illumination wire in the stock wiring harness.

I will check for a light that illuminates when the lights are turned on.

Found a wire that works...
The brown/white wire coming off of the large plug on the AC control of a 2004 Yukon works great for this feature.
