Default Ground loop?

So after installing the IVA D310, i get a periodic Hum from the speakers (mostly in the rear) that isn't affected by the volume, turning off the head unit or anythin short of discconecting power to the amps/speakers.

I narrowed it down to the IVA D310 brain. With the rest of the system on, I disconnected the ground on the brain and for some reason everything stayed on. It's also worth noting that I have a Video bypass module that runs off the brain power/ground wire.

The head unit display is running off the stock head unit power/ground. The brain, bypass module and bypass module are running to a ground in the dash.

What's causing my system to stay on when the brain's ground is disconnected? Is this the same problem that's giving me speaker noise?

Not sure about the brain part, as that may be as simple as the brain only controlling certain of the functions so it still operates in a limited mode without it.

But as far as the ground goes.. I would strongly recommend getting all the grounds on the same point. Multiple ground points are enemy #1 for problems like that.

I will be taking apart the dash next week to re-wire the head unit...perhaps that's the problem. And a common ground will definatly be in order.

Ground loop identified and corrected. Sound is Crystal Clear.

....the IVA Brain unit is still running without beignn grounded. Perhaps it's drawing power/ground from the AI-net cable?
