I'm getting together the audio system I plan on putting in my car. I'm having a hard time deciding on a couple things so I was hoping for some help from the forum. I'm pretty sure I want to use Alpine Type R components for the front and Alpine Type R 5 1/4" two ways in the rear. I was planning on using an Alpine PDX-5 amp to push the speakers and sub. I really don't need nor want anymore power than this.
Here's what I need help with. I plan on using a custom built stealth type box. I only want a 10" sub but I'm not sure which one to go with. I was thinking the Alpine Type R 10" but I am open to suggestions. I also can't decide which sound dampener to use for my car. I want completely do the interior killing as much road and exhaust noise as possible, while keeping as much sound in the car as possible. How much of this am I going to need to do the entire car? Rattles are a sin!!!!!
Finally the all imortant head unit.I'm debating between an Alpine IVA-W205 or the Kenwood DNX7100.
Thanks for your help everyone.

sub Box- Boxology, similar to JL stealth Box but easily removable
sound dampener- Second Skin products - Damplifier Pro at least 100SFT for a good install to reduce rattle, sound and heat
I would get the Alpine HU. But I would wait, the new one coming out is much better, in a month or so, IVA-W505...check out my threads I started. I got a thread for audio and insulation, with lots of details
for sound deadening talk to rick at raamatt, very great customer service and i think i went through 130 sq ft on my c5 vert. you'll want to get the sound dampener as well as the ensolite foam on top of that.
for subs i just picked up my second tc-9 sub for my daily driver, you should check out image dynamics, dayton ho, peerless xls or xlss, jl has some nice subs as well but over priced. it really depends on what you want (boom boom or sound quality) and how much power you have to throw at it.
Sorry, we didn't put our C5 enclosure into production (it is 1.15 cu. ft. for a 12 in. sealed, fiberglass) It is a great design, we just can't meet the pricepoint for the market... there are quite a few guys that make an MDF enclosure as the C5 center well makes for an easy build.
I think NVTHIS is still a vendor on this forum and he makes one...
I have a few customers with the DNX7100 that absolutely love it,that said i havent used the alpine so i cant say anything good or bad about it. Seems like you got a solid game plan, the pdx amps are awesome you will love it
IVA W205 is a good choice. Especially if you want to use the blackbird for navigation.
I wasn't' aware that Alpine came out with a 5 channel digital amp, but based on the specs it sounds like an excellent amp for your purpose.
The SWR 1042D isn't a bad sub, but I've never been impressed with it's bass as far as tone. It kicks fine but it's not good for tight bass associated with say rock music.
I'd suggest looking at JL audio's 10w3v3. Your power output will match is nicely and it provides excellent bass all around.
For deadening/sound barrier, Second Skin's Damplifier pro and Lux liner are defiantly something to look into. Damplifier pro is the best sheet style dampener availble. "Kale" can tell you more about Lux liner.

JL still makes a fiberglass one...

I think you need to quit being a little girl, put your purse down, and just make the C5 box! Ive seen it and its hands down the nicest production encloser ive seen for the C5!
