Default C5 stereo harness plug same as 2004 Cavalier?

The CD player in my 2002 Z06 has become inop. Everything on the stereo works except for the CD player, which says Err when I put a CD in, then it spits it back out.

I was wondering if the wiring harness/plug for a Cavalier stereo was the same, as I can probably get a pulled Cavalier stereo (since so many people install aftermarket units), and it will also play MP3s. I also like the way the stereo in my Cav operates over the one in my Z.
I'm not checking this out to save money, I'm checking it out to add MP3 playability while retaining a stock look.

Will this work? I'm hoping it will since I think all the Bose stuff is attached to the speakers and rest of the system, and not the stereo itself.

yes and no
the pre 00 or 99 or somethin cavaliers have a stereo with a plug that will fit but that doesnt mean it will work because the C5 vette uses a BCM signal to power the radio plus has other connectors for bose sound proccesor and stock door subs

the 99/00+ cavalier radios have a diff plug and therefore wont work

basically u need a vette stereo

That sucks. If it came down to it, I was going to swap the stereo from my 04 Cav into my Z for Cruise-In so I had some decent tunes and was going to look for a pulled Cav stereo to put into it. I really don't see the need to subscribe to satellite radio when I already have the CDs that I want to listen to.

I guess I'll buy one of the units I saw over in C5 Parts F/S and stick with regular CDs.

Thanks.

I didn't want anyone to see it and break in to steal it. That's the same reason I hooked up an amp and sub to the stock stereo in the Cavalier, nobody knows. Might end up having to get satellite anyway. I guess I could hide the satellite unit face behind the cover for the ashtray.
