Just to clarify the drivers, the Seas are the RW165/1 and the tweeters are the RT27F and the mid is the Irdium 3, correct?

Bing, great install one of the best I have seen done on a Vette. I have been a big fan of your work since the first install of yours that I saw on ICIXSound.Com. I only wish that your shop wasn't on the other coast.

Thanks Bing...one more question if I may. If I'm hijacking the thread guys, please let me know and I'll move the question.

On the subwoofers, I see there are 2 different types of 8 inch, a dual 2 ohm and a dual 4 ohm. Which did you use? And why 3 drivers? I'm a newb to this game, not quite the same 25 years ago when I was a teenager and the technology wasn't what it is today.

I'm going to run a McIntosh MC443M which is rated 300 watts into 4 Ohms and 500 watts into 2 ohms. Which sub setup would you recommend? I'm going after pure SQ, I do not want my liver liquified, there are much more pleasurable ways to do that

the drivers are dual 4ohm, each drive running at 8ohm and all three in paralell making it at 2.66 ohm final impedance, at that ohm the A6 is pumping out around 700 watts of real world poewr to them...whcih is pretty good for 3 ID8s...if i had gotten dual 2ohms, i would end up running itat 1.33 ohms, for gosh...1000-1100 watts, and thats a bit unneccessary

as for why 3s, purely cosmetic, that is the number that i felt would look the best, being we are going 8s, i wanted to be able to squeez in more than normal amount, up to 4, but 3 urned out to be the best number cosmetics wise.

as for your situation, well, if box/space limitation is not part of the equation, there are serveral good SQ drivers out there good for the 500 watts of Mac power...it all depends on your listening preference and budget...

but i would prolly end up wtih something like the IDQ10v3 for a sub that is a good all around performer with good output, extension as well as sq, or ,for those who are more into strictly SQ, something like hte Seas sub, DLS iridiums or RW10 or 12, would be good as well...but again, there are a lot of choices

See that's the problem, there are lots of choices. Most of the stuff I listen to is classical and instrumental although I do pull some old school rock out once in a while.

So you wired each drivers duals in series then the 3 in parallel, interesting.

I will have already sunk a fortune into this project after getting the 3 ways, the amps, DSP6 and the car computer. No sense in skimping now.

Yeah, I should be starting it in a couple months. I just ordered all the drivers, subs and DSP6 from Bing this week so they are on their way. I ordered a transreflective monitor for the carputer. I already had a Xenarc 700TSV modded and mounted into a double DIN bezel and ready to go, but after doing much reading, I decided to bite the bullet now and get the transreflective. I bought another double DIN kit and I will mount and mod it the same. This time I'll take some pictures. I want to do the same type of sound deadening the 805Z06 is doing so I'm really following his threads and will try to mimic and learn from what he's doing. I figure I'll have the car down for most of the summer and I need to finish up another project before parking the car and not being able to move it. I'm excited about this entire deal and have spent almost a year gather parts and researching everything.

I had Bing set the DSP6 for some basic crossovers and setting based on the drivers I'm getting. Once installed and everything is finished and tied up. I'll need to find someone locally that can tune the system for me. Plus, I will still need someone to mod the A-pillars for me, that's the only thing I really don't have the expertise to pull off. The other stuff is lots of time, labor and some basic electronics and wiring.

i wish i can be there to listen to the car when itdone, i havent heard a carputer set up to date that sounded that great, but you seem to be going all out

i havnet heard back from my freind yet...nots ure hwat happened to him hehe...well if in a month or osmething you still cant find someone locally you trust, maybe there is someone here iwth a C6 i can borrow for a day to do the aiming and intial mold, then i can do finish the rest without a car...

but man, i am not liking the memory of peeling off the factory vinyl lol

Tell you what...if we don't find someone local, you give me a kind of step by step and I can peel it off. I've got tools out the wazoo.

I hope by taking the digital out to the DSP I can avoid the issue of not having a good analog out. In theory, 1's and 0's are 1's and 0's no matter where they originate as long as they are read correctly. It's getting a good analog signal to the amps that seems to be the hurdle in many setups.

Here's a nice little write up on the audio chipset on the MB:

http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/...l-hdaudio.html

Doesn't looks too bad. We'll get er hooked up and see what it does. If it sounds like crap, I'll go with plan B....not sure what plan B is, but we'll go with it.

well, i think wha ti would be interested in findingout, is just how good the DSP6's DA converter is, i have done a few zapco installs with the zapco outboard DAC, which is fabulous...but also very pricey but you should have good results with the dsp6, at the veryt least it should be similar to the H701 alpine used in this car.

step by step instructions on peeling? hehe, take a pic set and needle nose and tear out every single one of the staples on the back, then proceed to use muscle and finger strength and gradually peal the vinly and the foam off, andgo over it wtih goo gone so its nice and smooth. took me about 6 hours lol
