Another question. since you are going 3 way active why did you choose only a 6.5" mid?
i am a 6.5" midbass person, i havent heard an 8" midbass i acutally liked more to be honest.
the biggest problem, IMHO in using big format midbass, espeically in a car as cramped as the vette, is you get so much resonance in the 2-400 hz range it really detracts from the sound, and if you tone it down so you dont hera it as much, it takes away a lot of output that it generates interms of midbass impact
larry was hesitatnt about not going wtih an 8", but i think once he hears the midbass on his car, he will be convinced at how much a 6.5" will do in the car they etxend clear down to 40hz...
as for settings...there are a few tunes saved by my frend who tuned the car for me...but the ir3 is genreally going from 800 to 1.6khz with 12 db slopes at this point. the car sounds great in two way format, but the 3 way riases the stage significantly and you do get a bit more of overall output
The Muscle Car Engine theme is really cool.I like the way the wiring looks, like spark plug wires. Does it sound as good as it looks ? Thanks for the pix of the a pillars w/ tweets. I've been thinking of trying this. Are you satisfied with the tweeter location ? Great Job
haha, you should be able to check this car out in person, he is out of LA man you vette guys have it lucky, the midbass response out of hte car is out of this world, i am so jealous, i am never going to be happy with another midbass set up again...unlessiu do another vette that is...
oh and dont worry about hte link, he will direct post hte pics sometime soon, maybe after he picks up the car and gets back to LA on saturday hehe
Do you have a source for the OEM vinyl you used on the pillars? They look amazing!
well, unlike the japanese cars i do, american cars usually have quite a few suppliers for oem matching vinyl. i just found the ones i had at my local upholstery supplier warehouse check your local upholstery shop, they should have it as well.
well, it just left here on its way back to LA, i am always sad to see my installs go, espeically this one sniff sniff maybe you guys in LA can check it out in person at hte next meet...
No, its Nick Johnson... I did Nam's install on his Toyota before Aaron and did an install challenge with Aaron, though... btw, Aaron just closed his doors at his shop ( too bad, he's a great installer). I haven't seen Nam on this site (probably one of the few sites he's not on).
Good work, Bing, love to see and hear it in person

what???!! IR is closed???? or did aaron move to another shop? another victim of the slow market? i am still geting over competition sound werks closing here in cali
yeah, that one surprised me too, though I think Aaron closed because he had too many big jobs and was overwhelmed... that and it sounds like he got a pretty good job offer in a engineering field... seemed to be in pretty good spirits and I think he got most of his loose ends taken care of... Nam's still in Japan last I heard... wonder what Yato's next venture is gonna be...
