I did a quick search for similar problems but those cars had the Bose system. I DO NOT. I hooked everything up last night and I get no sound. Do I have a factory amp even those I do not have the Bose system? That seemed to the be the main problem others had. Also, I tied the parking brake wire into the ground wire on the unit but still get an error message on that. Do I have ground the parking brake wire somewhere separate? Where does everyone tie in the VSS? I did it behind the speedo cluster but got confused. One thread I had seen said it was a dark brown wire with white stripe another said dark green with white stripe? A little help guys! Didnt drive the vette today because its still all disassembled
there should still be a turn on wire, all C6s have amps in them
I assume you have a D3, are you sure you moved the wire into the right pin before grounding it out. Ive bypassed many D3s never a problem, check out avic411.com on the parking break bypass.
Awesome I will check that out. I may have also got the orange (illum and dim) wires mixed up because the never switched to night mode. Thanks, I'll see if I can get this fixed after work
Alright, so for the bypass everyone moves the "mute" wire right? I moved this to pin above but did ground it. On mine, the brown wire goes straight from the OEM harness to the GMCO box but does not seem to continue to the D3. Do I ground it from the GM harness or ground the part from the GMCO box? After I did that, my unit does not even turn on now...
As far as the illumination tie in, which wire on the traction or hazard do you tap in to?
you do not have to cut or mod the gmco at all you take the black wire coming off the end and connect it to the groudn from the radio, the wire u moved and the parking break wire
Oh boy, I think I moved the pin on the wrong harness. I moved the mute wire on the gmco not the AV one for the D3. I wasnt hooking anything else up so I didnt plug the AV harness into the unit.
haha Damn it! I swear it took me an hour to get the damn wire out of there and it was the wrong one. You have any links of pictures detailing how to get those connectors out?
PS I'm an idiot apparently. I've installed many stereos before, but this is my first NAV
Alright everything seems like its working now. I still have to locate the VSS wire. I am trying to tap in behind the speedo... which wire on which connector(grey or black) is it? I also tied the illumination wire in the to the hazard switch (grey/black wire) but it still does not dim or switch to night mode. I also have a popping and static noise when the system is on. Do I need to reduce the voltage to the amp from the HU? What about the noise?
