I just installed two amps, two rear speakers, two subs and two tweeters. The system sounds GREAT, but here is my problem. I am getting a "whinning" noise, what some would call a alternator noise. when I rev the car it gets louder. I installed a noise resistor on both amps (RCA plugs)from the stereo to the amps. they were $13 each at walmart. They did work by cutting the whinning down about 60% but I still hear "some whinning". How do I get rid of all the whinning? I don't want to re-wire the whole system. Thanks for any help...
So where is your Remote, Power cable compared to your RCA's ? What saize power cable are you running
The power cable came from an Amp kit I bought, connected directly to the battery w/ a in-line fuse. The remote wire that came w/the amp kit is hooked to my fuse box. I have two set of RCA cables, Left and right channels. All the wires are routed together running to the rear of the car where the amps are.
You should sepperate the RCA's from any type of power wire be it the remote or the Power wire the RCA will feed off of those wires. Try running the power wires down one side and the rca's down the other this should help.
even brand name quality amps can come defective in some way. Doesn't mean its a crappy brand, but sometimes these things slip past quality control. Try what has been suggested. If that doesn't cure it, try running an mp3 player straight to the amp via rca cable and see if you still get the noise. Be sure to check the volume and make sure its half way before hooking it up to the amp.
OK, I seperated the RCA's and ran them down the drivers side, the other wires are on the passenger side. I am still getting the whinning noise. The noise only happens when I have one of the amps set to high frequency. The other amp is set to bass only because it runs the woofers. But I need the other amp to stay set the way it is in order to get the high's in the rear speakers and the tweeters. The tweeters and the rear speakers I installed is where the whinning noise is comming from. Any other suggeations?
do you have the pac harness with the rcas soldered on the end
one thing to try is instead of using the common from the pac harness for the rcas tie all the rca commons together and run em to a screw on the headunit

Yes, I have the RCA's , you explained to me "how to do it' on the FAQ. To be honest....I do not want to have to remove my console and trim again to get to the rear of the stereo....I love the way my stereo sounds, everything is perfect.......except the damn whinning noise!!!
They are both "BOSS" amps. Not top of the line, but not chaepo's either. I had one of them in my old C5 before I sold it, and I never had any type of whinning noise from it when it was in the C5.
