Looks have exactly nothing to do with sound quality. In car audio circles, generally the more attractive something is the worse it performs. Many of the things companies do to make drivers cosmetically attractive are exactly the things that hurt performance. Subs are an excellent example.

I've alwasy been curious about the wave guides Alpine introduced in 03 (could be wrong on the dates) The look cool yes, but do they hurt performance?
