Anyone try the Alpine LAT sub/amp?
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

I bought the bigger one one sept 11th, by oct 10th of 07 it was on its way back to alpine for service. It flat out died on me, we tested everything at the shop before sending it back in. At first it was a loose connection somewhere, if you'd bang on it, it'd come back for anywhere from 5 second to 5 hours, then completely dead.
2 months ago I remembered about the damn thing and called up. Seems they're out of production, so they don't even have one to send me to replace it.
Needless to say I went absolutely ape**** on them as a result. Turns out they offered me 2 little ones, which I turned down or a 600 watt pdx amp a 12 inch type r sub, I said well I had a box with the previous stuff, he said talk to the authorized place you bought it (thank god I didn't go internet and bought it retail) and have them make you a box, I said well it was line level inputs, now I need a convertor, he said have them add that into the bill as well and send it to us.
Of course I forgot to get to the shop and do anything with it, but thanks for reminding me.
I had this unit in my 07 suburban with the touch nav/dvd bose stuff, that just didn't have enough low end bass. it sounded ok, but didn't sound as big and bad as they made it out to be. I just liked it because it seemed a quick, simple, in and out solution (yes I use the sub for everything from bodies at work, to motors, transmissions, towing a 24 ft enclosed, the labrador retriever etc.) for adding some low end boom at a reasonable price point from a company with a good reputation. Needless to say I'm very disappointed with the results.

The road race car 99 coupe is in the works still, but so far I just wound up talking a PDX 4.150 which bridges to 300 watts and gives me 150 watts per component set for each door, I have a set of 8 inch focal polyglass subs which I'm going to mount in the door (were in a buddy's C5 that he traded for a C6 and actually sounded great since he didn't want a box and I want minimal weight) sealed up and lightly dampened, with a 4 inch component set in each in addition. I'm still debating even putting a system into it just because of weight. but whatever I need tunes when tearing up the track. and eventually I might put plates on it.
I'm a focal fan for speakers, the alpine amp fell into my lap, the street car runs JL. I'm not looking to blast the block down with the vettes, I made my old Z06 a heavy pig with tons of deadening etc. and didn't see enough of a difference to think of doing it again.
Just wanted ot make sure I spoke up before you got your hands on what alpine effectively labelled a dud. Talking with customer service today they have a replacement policy of a pdx600.1 and a 12 inch type R sub policy ineffect and I had to bitch and moan and mention all the alpine crap I have between 5 cars and systems and the fact that I'd purposely not spend another dollar with them based on the situation of sitting with nothing for the past 6 months since that PLV broke.
I actually went calm and decided on a JL stealthbox for the sub, just because pulling a box in and out since I do use it for work, moving motors, tires, the dog etc. and the stealthbox goes under the factory console and is completely out of the way and hidden.
