Default Sub solution for C5

I thought I read a while back that there was a company that made a ready to install, no modes required, (other than mounting) sub solution for the C5 that goes in the center compartment. I can't seem to find that.

Check JL's site for a local dealer, expect to pay around $500 for it, it's overpriced, but it is an easy drop-in. A good amp? Something like RF's 400a2 would work, you want 300-400watts or more into one 4 ohm channel for it.

A cheaper, better alternative is to have either a local shop, or you, fiberglass an enclosuer yourself. A number of people have done it on here and posted pics, and can help you with it. The materials come out to under $100, the labor depends on the installer and experience. Add your sub, which you then get to choose (JL still isn't a bad choice), and an amp, and you're looking at about $300-$400 for everything + labor if you have someone else do it.

The cheapest install would be a Bazooka. Tap the pre-amp outputs in the HU. You can always upgrade later.

Thanks for posting that link. Why was the mold for the storage compartment needed? Is there something in the void space under the subs?

yes, the mold was used to construct a fiberglass closed (sealed) box. get better, tighter, more accurate bass that way.

I have an extra drop-in box that is cut to hold a 10" sub. I had my Kenwood db+ in it. I upgraded to a 12" sub and had a new one made. The box sits about 1 1/2 inches below flush in the center compartment so you can still put the compartment lid over it if you want to. (I didn't want to cut a hole in my lid.) It is a perfect fit with the appropriate amount of volume for a Kenwood 10 but isn't carpeted. It's just bare wood at this point. It doesn't bounce or slide around any. I will get you some pics if you are interested. Also if anyone else is interested, I can have more made relatively inexpensively. I was really pleased with the guy's work when he first made it and asked him if he would be able to make more if the guys at CF wanted some. I'm not too sure how much but it will be yet but I'm thinking of somewhere in the neighborhood of $70 shipped.

Yeah and it sounds great too. :yesnod:I'm using their 250/1 amp to drive it. Also added Boston co-ax's in the rear to replace the puny single cones.
