Default Almost there, sub/amp suggestions???

OK, I almost sold the vette a couple weeks ago, but things fell into place and I'm keeping my baby. I ordered a 12" stealth box from Dave at corvettecaraudio and it will be here this week. As of now I'm just adding a sub and amp to the factory Bose as I'm waiting to see some of the new head units coming out this summer. Dave has been awesome as far as customer service and keeping me updated on my order staus. Pentavolvo has also been really helpful, so thanks to him as well. My dilemma is I STILL can't decide on what woofer and amp to go with. I was gonna go image dynamics, but not sure which model to go with. I've always been an Alpine fan, but I've never ran their subs. So please throw out your suggestions. I've seen/heard good things about the pdx and mrp amps from Alpine, what is the difference between the two? I listen to mostly rap/hip hop and the budget for the Woofer and Amp is around 350-400 but will consider slightly higher if it's REALLY worth it. I'm not a big audiophile and I'm looking for around 400-500 watts rms. Thanks, Rain
P.S. I will be adding some sound deadening as well, so if you have any good audio sites that sell that as well as the amp and sub feel free to PM me a link.....

IMO Alpine subs are garbage. The pdx amps are there new digital amps that are super small. If you dont need a super small amp the regular mrp amps work great.

Image Dynamics makes great stuff

Check out elemental designs edesignaudio.com they have some great subs and amps

I have done a lot of research lately and if you have the 12" enclosure, I would go with the Alpine PDX 600.1 for $280 on Ebay (from many vendors). And I would go a JL 12w3v3 sub for $155 on Ebay (again from many vendors). Those prices are after shipping. That should keep you under $450 and it should hit hard and sound great. I think for about $100 more you could upgrade to a JL W6.

I'm just waiting for all of my new stuff to arrive

Oh, as far as audio shops, I haven't found any that compete with the Ebay prices. Some came close on some items, but compared to Crutchfield, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. eBay offers brand new, non refurbished stuff for 40%-60% less. Most of the vendors have sold between 15,000 to sometimes 60,000 items, so you know you can trust them.

I did my entire system on eBay and am very happy with my prices.

I went with the PDX after much thinking for a few reasons:
1. I wanted a small size, as mentioned
2. If I go with a second amp I can stack them if needed
3. It had great reviews everywhere I read about them

During your research, what did you find out about JL Amps?
I am in the market for an amp. I have a JL 8W7 and it hits real hard, would recommend the sub to anyone. thanks

I'm re-doing my system, and just removed Zapco amps (very high end).

Anyway, I got the new digital JL amp HD600/4 (150w x4) for the speakers, and their 250/1v2 (250w) for the Stealthbox sub (10w3v2)

Should sound good..

BTW, I am selling the Zapco amps for $500 each if interested..
They are their Competition line.. C2K 3.0
