Default programing bose radio

i seen someplace a thread about installing a xm unit with a bose radio that didnt have xm before, that after the install the radio needed to be reprogramed to allow the xm channels to show up on the radio.

ive searched for this thread and cant seem to find it now does anyone know anything about the reprogrning or know where i can find that thread? (thanks for any help)

The radio doesn't need to be programmed, it should just auto-recognize the XM unit when it is present. What I'm not sure about is if you're using an actual GM XM unit how the VIN-locking of that unit is accomplished. That may have to be programmed by a dealer. The VIN locking of an XM unit is separate from the VIN locking of the radio. Unlike a radio however, my current understanding is that the XM VIN lock is once & done, so if you're trying to move a unit from one car to the other, forget it, can't happen.
