OK here is the twist with my KD-NX5000 install. Apparently none of the connectors for the stock radio are used. The after market radio has been completely re-wired. Now i have spent the last few hours looking for this wire and saw that others found it to be the green/white wire. I saw the pic and confirmed i have the same wire. Evrybody so far has "tapped" into it. What if I am not using the plug at all, can i still use that wire? Right now i am seeing that its a big no-go.
In other words, has anybody wired directly to the green/white wire or is evrybody using a harnes and spliced in?

wether that is the correct wire of not i dont remeber
but yes you can splice into it there is no reason you couldnt. regardless you would have to splice it even if you had a harness because an aftermarket harness wouldnt have the wire there
I did lots of work on finding out where to get VSS when I did my Z2. The green with white should be the one to use at the harness. The harness should have VSS because the Bose has the function of changing volume with speed.
I spliced in there, didn't use anything else on the harness. It didn't give any speed pulses on the head unit though. Not sure why, seemed like the right one to splice into.
I finally got the green with white at the gauge cluster and it gives the pulses needed.

ive never actually tapped at the headunit on a c5 always at the gauge cluster. maybe it doesnt work without the radio plugged in kind of like the dimmer wire, or it could be a data signal not a vss signal and the radio can interprut it
well i broke down and pulled the cluster. Yeap you guys were right. Thats exactly what i needed to do. Besides i had a little dust in the cluster that i have been meaning to clean anyway. I am good to go now. Thanks guys.
