I can't find the positive wire for the emergency brake. There is only 1 wire going to the switch and that's not hot. I don't see any other wire, can someone help please? It's an 08 Z06.
I'm assuming you're trying to hook up the "E-brake" wire to a new head-unit? If so, just ground it. A bunch of legal BS is the only reason they tell you to do it anyway. Also, unless you're talking about something else, the wire you're looking for is an OPEN circuit when the E-brake is off, and GROUNDED when it is on, so there's no power to it either way.
do not just ground it. Save yourself the headache. Due to some insurance Companies policies now, If they Parking brake wire is not connected at the brake and a wire ran to the radio area, They will deny your claim if in a Accident or stolen. YES they are doing this, I know this Cause i use to be an inspector that did this. It is gainst the law to watch video in motion, Now the insurance compaines are using that to there advantage, read your policy. They are training the adjusters to notice aftermarket navs, along with asking the insured.
It's a Grounded wire.
Still run the wire and tap into it. doesn't mean you cant ground it at the dash.
I did have it grounded and the unit did not work properly. I was then instructed to tap into the wire on the E-brake that you refer to. I did this and the unit does not work (will not allow me to use address function, I do have a map though). Now the Pioneer instructions say to run it to the positive wire on the E-brake switch and I don't see one, All I have is the single wire that seems to be a ground.
My thoughts are I have a defective head unit. Any suggestions?
