I replaced my stock Bose with the JVC 40 gig/DVD/Nav head unit. I used the Seagate module to accommodate the Bose speaker system. Pryor to the change the sound was perfect to me. A lot of bass and nice loud volume. Now I have very little bass and can only go half the volume before distorting.
Like to replace the speakers but I am not too knowledgeable with the task.
Can anyone recommend a combination of replacement speakers to get back what I lost? I am not looking to do a sub in the CD changer hole. Trying to keep it simple.
Do I have to run new wires or can I use existing Bose wires?
I'm sure there a lot more questions to ask but this is all I can think of for right now.
As I said I am ignorant when it come to today's stereo systems. I do not know if I need an amp or not. I am not looking for so loud that I can **** off the three cars in front of me at a stop light, just what I had with the stock Bose system.
As far as I know my door subs are working. I used to have the mirrors vibrating on the stock Bose system. Not anymore.
my recommendation is to rip the bose garbage out of the doors and put in a component set with a small amp. you could repalce the rears and amp those as well but IMO in a vert you barely hear them anyways. With nicer speakers up front and an amp it will sound 100x better then the bose ever did louder cleaner more refined etc, and if you do some sound deadening in the doors you should get similar bass to the bose system.
Ideally if it were my car I would get a 4 channel amp, put components up front and a small sub in back and then you are totally set
Thanks for the help. Is this something I could do myself or need someone to do it?
this is any easy thing to do yourself

you could make your own with a pen, paper, jigsaw, and some wood... or buy them

very important to add the deadening. basically it's a stick on sheet of material that adds some mass to the door and reduces vibrations. This will definitely give you the best results from an aftermarket (or stock) speaker
btw, what's your budget?

I just replaced my pioneer p880prs head unit with a double din alpine iva-w505 guess what the door subs arent working apparently all bass is gone ....(previously I had replaced the stock bose unit with the pioneer unit and it sounded fantastic but no navigation feature.) Now these guys want me to replace my speakers and buy an amp...to fix the problem. the sound is extremely clean but not even a suggestion of bass..... I am in a quandry as one of my existing speakers has a slight defect when pushed to its limits.... so sooner or later it probably will go.....suggestions
So it is not difficult to run wire thru the doors to the dash?
So I will need two amps? One In each door? Or four two for each rear?
no, you will need one (2 chan) amp in the trunk somewhere or possibly behind the seat. or if you plan on adding a sub you'd want a 3 or 4 chan amp.
