HU Mount, black plexis surround?

I am curious if anyone has made a black plexi surround for a single din unit? I am wanting to flush mount my deck and think that the plexi surround would really set it off.

I used a piece of dark walnut.

FWIT, you really don't see enough of the surround to appreciate it.

I sure don't like the GM adapter though.

A small detail maybe, but a detail none the less. Radioflyer gave the idea of using a thin piece of lexan and painting the back black. May work

You may want to use 3/16 or 1/4" thick stuff as you need to fill the gap and the new HU has to be supported.

The head unit in my truck is mounted just as you plan. The plex is stuck to the GM adapter kit with thin 2x sided tape. I can take a picture if you'd like.
