i have a z2 and i mostly listen to music from my ipod source. the ipod interface on the z2 is painfully slow. after 6 months i have not used the hard drive of the head unit. my kids like the ability to watch dvd's on it but no ipod video. i do like the 7inch screen. anyone ditched their z2 for something else? thinking maybe a f900bt or 700bt.
I added the RCA cabling for my IPOD as an AUX input to be able to watch movies from it on my Z1. the ipod interface is painful! I just use playlists now on it to cut back time. thats what I get for having 10-12K songs on my 80gb ipod.
i like the larger screen of the z2 but that ipod interface is painful . i have about 9000 songs on mine. might take the smaller screen for faster access. will aking more playlists if thats makes it appear faster to access the song lists
Go to AVIC411 before you make the jump to the F Series. Pioneer pulled them from the market for awhile because of software glitches. I have the F900BT. And I have problems with it.

That would be the best place to check, but from what I have read the 700 is quite good. There is an update comming out soon and if you have an older unit (900bt or 90bt), I believe Pioneer will send you a firmware update or you could download it from their site once it has been released.
It won't fix the Sun however. Let me explain; The maximum operating temperature of the F900BT is 140 degrees, according to Pioneer. My locked C5 Coupe can reach that by 11 in the morning here in Phoenix, Arizona. So it works fine when I leave the garage in the morning. if I leave it in the Sun at lunch, and come back. Unit no worky! And it's consistent. I don't think the engineers ever thought about a car in the desert sun reaching over 140. And you cannot turn this unit off, it is made to come on automatically when the key is on. So sure you will turn on the A/C, but the unit is already beyond it's operating limit. Window covers have little affect on interior ambient temperature.
do the f series all take like 30 to 40 seconds to boot when turned on?
the msn direct feature looks great. does it work with voice ? i paid a grand for my z2 in January. hate to take a loss on it but still have the box and might package them with my pdx amps.... have decided to move to arc audio......
No voice on the MSN for the F series, traqffic is integrated with the Nav, and the boot issue is one item that Pioneer is getting complaints on. Pioneer is due to have a firmware update out "soon". The screen is slow to react, again a fix is coming. Bluetooth is impossiboe if you have a Blackberry, it connects and then immediately disconnects. One point on MSN direct and HD radio, you will need an antenna "Y" adapter for both to work. MSN and HD use the FM antenna. MSN makes a statement that a "Y" adapter may cause it not to work because of the drop in signal strength. I have it here in Phoenix, and no had no problems. Look, I know this may read like I don't like the unit, I recognize the learning curve that Pioneer is going through with a new product, but you should know that the marketing campaign and the reality are not quite equal yet.
