I've got a new Amp & I want to install it behind the drivers seat of my 03' Z06 with 4x1" screws. Is there any possibilty of drilling my pilot holes into anything behind this spot? Has anyone done this?
I haven't done it, but I've read a lot about it. I think the gas tanks are behind the seats so don't screw in through there. The common fix is to get a board and silicon it to the body(or some other attachment method) under the carpet and then screw into the board.

THE GAS TANKS ARE BEHIND THERE!!!
What most folks do that want to mount amps there is to glue a board to the back wall under the carpet and then screw into that. Rough the wall with some sandpaper to help the glue stick (liquid nails, etc) and you should be good to go.

I had the carpet out of mine yesterday and noticed that there's a series of 5 or so thin horizontal metal slats raised about 1/4 inch off the rear wall behind the seats. I'd think you could carefully just drill through those raised slats and then anchor some sort of fitting in there. That would eliminate having to add the thickness and weight of a board.
