I finally got off my butt.... (Sub Pix)
) They have since fixed this, but I wasn't sure that I wanted to go in that direction again. So I have been looking for a sub that I can drop down into the storage compartment and sound decent. I have looked at a lot of different subs, and tried to get one that will work in a 0.88 cuft box. My Xtant 603 only drives 300 watts into the sub at 2 ohms, so I needed an efficient sub.
After months of searching (and driving around with a huge ported box with an old school Orion XTR DVC 12") I finally decided... this big azz box has got to go. Screw it. Just buy a cheap sub and be done with it.

So I found a Polk Audio MOMO 12" DVC sub for $80 shipped. I installed it last night, and I'm currently in the break-in period. So far, it sounds like a decent little sub. Certainly worth the $80 I paid.
A few pix:
Factory CD changer bolts get in the way of the sub box if they aren't removed. I decided to build a box that would work around this issue.

There is a bit of room above the CD changer studs... maybe 3.25" to the top of the sub box. So I decided to just build the box and add the sub extension to the rear of the box to gain some clearance.

This allows you to get just enough clearance for the magnet to clear the front lower edge of the box. (I removed the magnet boot after this picture was taken, just to get that extra little room...)

I used 3/4" MDF for the box, and another piece of 1/2" MDF for the top cover. I countersunk the sub into the 1/2" MDF so that it is flush mounted. I plan on adding a grill... as soon as I get off my azz and order one.

One more thing... I have owned that Xtant amp for many years, and it wasn't until last night that I realized that it had 12/24 dB slopes on the crossovers. I thought it was 6/12 dB, and I had it set for 12 dB.
24 dB is MUCH easier on my 720PRS's with the system crossed over at 90 hz. Mark
Here is a PDF copy of the AutoCAD file I made when I designed the box. I switched the top 3/4" piece to sit on the box vs. inside the box as I had originally planned. The rest is pretty much the same except for the extra 'kick-out' piece to the rear.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.
