Default Thanks!!

Hey guys thanks for all the responses and advice it is all appreciated.

I must admit I am not a audio noob, but I am always willing to learn from others, specifically when I have not done a install on a C6 and it is all new to me. My interest is in any experiences in your installs.

I am trying to "cheat" a little bit and leave the door woofers in place, but since purchasing my c6 this past Friday and spending a week with it and comparing it to the system in my 2007 Avalanche, there is no comparison. I still may may try it, but I am prepared to do a full install.

I am lucky in that I have a lot of left over equipment. Including Alpine headunit, signal processor (PXA-701), Boston Acoustic Z series component speakers, Diamond Audio 7056 (5 channel amp), 2 Audison amps, 1 Rockford fosgate amp, and plenty of sub options.

Keep any advice coming as it is helpful as I move forward.

wait... you have a pxa-h701? go fully active with some seas drivers, you'll save a ton of money if all you need are raw speakers

Yeah, I might even have two H701 signal processors for past installs, but If installed I would have to do it stealth because I do not want to deal with custom work to incorporate a new headunit that the H701 display module in the dash. I may leave the stock headunit and take the line level to the H701 to my Diamond Audio D7 amp.

Can you send me the model numbers for the Seas speakers you mention.

i was in the same boat as you with the rux controller. it was too blingy for my car so i ended up ripping that out. If i were to do it again i'd probably end up going with an audiocontrol mvc after the h701 then to the amps. i'd just plug in the rux for tuning and setup.

as for the seas speakers, i'm not 100% on the 8" version but i have the 7" g18rnx/p, but they are hard to come by right now. there are some variants with slightly different characteristics but if you go with the rnx/p line (for instance the CA18RNX) you'll be getting a good bang for the buck.

here are some other 7" driver reviews:

the tweeter that spkrboy praises is the Vifa D26NC5 which is pretty cheap at under $30 ea

if you do a search for spkrboy he has a great thread about installing those drivers into komo's c6

Yep, I have that Vifa/Seas combo and it is killer, extremely smooth and detailed all through the frequencies. The Vifa is a big tweet with a massive (for a tweet) heat sink and plays flat fairly low. IIRC the crossover point is down around 2000, but not sure off the top of my head.

Default Confirmed!!

Yup, just looked in my left over equipment and I have (2) Alpine PXA-H700 multimedia managers. One is new in the box and the other is used from my C5 install. To save money, I may use the Boston Acoustic Z series components that I already have. They are brand new in the box as is the Diamond Audio D7 - 7056 (5)-channel amp I have. I will begin to plan out my strategy in wiring this weekend. I hope it does not rain too much.

Default Got to look in my garage more often!

I went searching for my installation equipment and found (1) Audison LRX 400.1, (1) Audison LRX 2.500 (Awesome AMP!!), (1) Audison LRX 2.150 and a set of JL Audio VR 6.5 components. Wooo Hooo !

Still plan on using My new Diamond Audio D7 Amp and Boston Acoustics Z-series components (6.5) for my C6 install. I'll save the other equipment for my 1970 Karmann Ghia project.
