Default Cooling the amp down

Guys my amp is located under the passenger seat and it does get hot ocassionaly due to my headers or what not. It is Infinity 5350A.

I just bought a Stinger cooling fan (model SGJ78) and it will fit perfect under my seat too.

Here is the picture of the fan

and here is the picture of my amp.

Where should the fan be facing? Where exactly do I mount the fan?

Also on the fan, should I just connect the positive to the amp remote line and negative to amp ground so it comes on when the headunit/amp is on?

where to place it honestly im not sure, i would think any airflow would be great. i wouldnt use the remote wire but use a relay on the remote wire or just tap an ignition wire in the fuse panel

If the heat is really coming from the headers, why not just put a heat insulator between the floor, the amp and the pipes?

Anyway, I would put the fan at the rear of the seat as you have the least chance(?) of running over it moving the seat.

I would use a relay to turn it on and grab the signal from the amp turn on.

Guys the height of the fan is almost the height of the amp if not smaller so putting it on the side is no issue. Behind the seat would work too. I will think of something I was told just to hook the power to remote line and ground to amp ground. What kind/size of relay do I need?

Here's what you need:

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=330-070

You should be able to find one at an autoparts store as well...

MAKE SURE TO PUT A FUSE ON IT! Relays can lock up (rare, but they do).

Squirrel fans are too easy to break... so your best bet is to install it at the rear of the seat like everyone else has recommended... that's one way to make sure the girl riding shotgun has hot legs... lame, sorry...

any autoparts store should have those relays its a generic relay radioshack will as well

hooking to remote line can damage radio without use of a relay

You should be able to find the relay around the offroad lights in an auto parts store.
Be aware, using the remote turn on may induce noise. Be prepared to find another turn on source.
