I have been out of the latest and greatest car audio stuff and I am looking to find a clean powerful amp to run my front stage components and 1 12" sub. No rear fill...
I need something powerful enough to keep some 6.5" Focal Utopia components happy as well as a 12" sub. I have not selected the sub yet - but the more power the better.
Now, the question is... Is there a single amp that will power it as efficient as 2 seperate amps?
I've really liked my Audison amplifiers over the years I suggest the LRX 2.250 for the fronts and LRX 1.400 for the sub. These amps are small enough that two will only consume minimal space. Good luck.
Audison SRX3 is designed for exactly what you are looking for. 3 Channel Amp, 75x2 for your front and 270 watts to the sub at a 4 ohm load...it is also stable at 2 ohms for 380 watts with a 4 ohm resistance on the fronts for 65 watts going to each door. I have one in my convertible running 6.5" Hertz components and a pair of JL Audio 8"s and it works wonderfully. It is clean up to OMG my ears are bleeding so any more power in a corvette is overkill in my opinion.
I'm doing just what you want to with my setup. It's not as high end as the Zapco amp, but it works well for me.
I'm using a PPI PCX-4125 4 channel amp to run my DEI Viper front Comps and the other two channels bridged to run an Infinity 12" sub in back. I don't care for a ton of bass, so this works well for me (actually I have to turn the bass on the HU down because it can get a little too much for my taste).

i have an unopened srx5 just sitting in a box unopened. i have too many amps, not enough cars :-)
it's really ignorant (for lack of a better word) to say that anything over 65 watts is overkill in a vette. That is largely based on a speakers sensitivity and how loud your car is (among other things like sound deadening, tuning, install, etc) . I had a xtant 75 wrms x 2 and 300 wrms x1 amp in my car and it was fine until i hit the highway. It was hard to hear it over the wind/engine noise.
