A little off the Corvette path but I trust your opinions here. Im buying a new Mini Cooper S as my daily driver. Im ordering it the premium sound system which includes 10 speakers. I think I want to add a JL Stealthbox to it. The thing is, obviously there is little room to spare. The " boot " area is small already and the Stealthbox eats up more of the limited space. Im going to need a very small but quality amp that puts out an honest 300-400 watts. I have 2 JL amps in my Vette and they are good amps but to large for a Mini. Any ideas?

An Alpine PDX 2.150 bridged will give you 300 into 4 in a small package. JL has a similar model range of amps as well now. I run a 4.150 in my truck and used to use it in my C6, it's a solid performer.
It puts out what it is rated at real-world voltage. At 250W RMS it is smaller than you are looking for, but there is a 4 channel version of it that should be hitting the streets right about now and they have a more powerful version of it coming out soon... rumor was upwards of 500W RMS... give Arc a call... they have good customer service and can give you a better idea of when the higher-powered version is coming out and also refer you to a dealer... take a look at who designed these amps as well and what other amps he has designed in the past... he knows his stuff...
There are a few other amps out there as well... and more to come... "small is the new big"
fyi got a mini and been all over the mini boards DO NOT order the hifi sound system, it actually sounds worse then the factory system, as many ppl have stated and is a 100% waste of money
feel free to PM me i got tons of info on the stereos in the minis. there is room under passenger seat for an amp thats not huge and if u dont have the hifi system there is room for an amp in back under one of the trim panels
As usual you guys come through. good info for me to get started. I listened to both stereos in the Mini's and think the premium sounds better than the stock one. It doesnt sound great but with a good sub it will satisfy my needs in that car. I spent a ton of green for the system in the Vette and love it but Im not going over board upgrading the Mini system. Thanks for the suggestions.
