I just did this 2 weeks ago. You dont have to take the car in if you dont want to. Call the dealer and they will tell you to press a combination of numbers to get another code out of the radio. Then the dealer will call GM to get the unlock code using the numbers that you just supplied them with. Then dealer will call you back with the correct unlock code. Just tell them that you never got the code in the first place or they will charge you for it.
