Default Mounting an amp in C5?

Ok, I've searched and searched, but can't find what I'm looking for.

I'm looking for a write up on how to install an amp on the back wall of a C5 coupe. I'm looking for material needed and pics with step by step install progress. Could someone help me with this??

Thanks in advance

best way to go is to put a piece of wood behind the back wall carpeting. this provides a medium you can screw into. I used a piece of 3/4" because I happened to have it. I'll see if I can find a few pictures.

remove all of the interior from the back of your car. floor carpet, back wall piece, latch covers etc. for my piece of wood to fit I had to carefully remove the glued on foam from the back of the rear wall carpeting piece. if you use a thinner piece of wood you might be able to make it fit. but you'll need something sturdy you can screw into to mount your amp. the fiberglass would not do.

now with my setup I mounted the piece of wood to the back wall with a bunch of 3M double sided tape. I wanted to be able to remove everything if I wanted to some day. that is a good route but I'll warn you, with the weight of an amp on your back wall there is a good chance that it will be removed if you are ever in an accident. if it is a bad enough accident your amp and the piece of wood could come flying forward! if that is a concern for you, use a few large bolts through the fiberglass and to some kind of a backing plate of wood or metal for a more secure installation. I didn't want to go through all that, so I'm taking my chances.

here is the back wall

foam removed

It doesn't look like I have any pictures of the wood piece I used, but it should be the same dimensions as the foam piece you removed (if it stayed in one piece...mine did) it will fit right behind that panel. you will have to drill pilot holes for your mounting screws, try this technique. put some tape over the carpet, then put your amp in position where it should be. best if you can prop it up on something and measure. then use an awl to poke a hole in the tape where your mounting holes need to be. drill pilot holes then remove the tape (may be difficult to see where they are in the carpet, a good thing if you ever plan to remove any of this or even move it around) then put your amp back in position and screw it in.

All together:

After I added the second amp:

I mounted mine behind each seat, I glued a peice of MDF to the back floor board ran all the wires and then put the carpet back in and then screwed the amps through the carpet to the wood. This worked for me hope it helps you

if mounting on back wall i HIGHLY recommend bolting/screwing it in, in an accident it will become a lethal weapon

I guess I'll need to take everything out and see how I can bolt/screw it down.

What about some MDF board mounted with some liquid nails?

Did you have any issues with the seat hitting the amp?

if i recall u can nut an bolt it and reach under the rear fascia to with a wrench to tighten it down

behind seats u will loose some seat travel, but the lower u keep the amp the less u will lose

remove the license plate/backup light assembly and at least the two inner taillights. you'll have plenty of access to the area behind the rear wall from there.

I just removed the two inner tail lights... I had more than enough room to reach in and bolt it down.

For additional safety, use large fender washers or a flat piece of steel strap to distribute the weight/stress across the fiberglass piece.
