Default speaker question

I would like to upgrade my rear speakers. I was thinking of going with the JL Audio brand 5.25" coaixles. They are 2 5/16" deep and the tweeter protrudes 1/4" above the rim. Will they fit my 99 hardtop? Will the factory grills be reusable? TIA

Can anybody answer my question here or should I post it in C5 General?

TIA

I have JL XR-525 coax in the rears of my C6 coupe. They are getting 75w each. They are really good speakers. You cant go wrong with top tier JL's. XR, C5 or ZR series. Cant help you with placement and fitting though.

These are the TR 525 speakers. Any good? Will they fit in a FRC? Anybody?

i have put infinitys in an FRC that were 2 1/4 so ur only talking an extra 1/16th of an inch on depth. it had a 5/8 tweeter protrusion

so therefore the JLs should fit fine, and they will fit behind stock grill, FYI that grill doesnt pop off the whole panel is removed, if u need instructions let me know

Hi, thanks. They are 2 5/8" deep and the tweeter extension sits about 1/4" above the rim.

Instructions to remove the panel would be helpful.
