Default Yes....another C5 Bose question!

I tried searching and I am not coming up with exactly what I am looking for.

2001 Z06, factory Bose. I am replacing just the head unit.

Are the rear and the front 3.5" speakers standard speakers, I mean non amplified?

Are the front subs the only speakers to use a Bose amp at each location?

If you were to hook up an aftermarket head unit would you use a sven2 on the Bose subs and just run the other speakers off the power from the head unit or downstream amps?

The information in this section does need some re-organizing.
The subs are attached to the front speakers. There are no amps in the rear. I replaced just my head unit recently and used the GM harness and SVEN2 and wired it up myself. Use the info below in wiring the SVEN2. This was the only thing I couldn't find when wiring the SVEN2. Good luck.

Leave the gain ***** at the max position, they can later be dialed down during testing if the factory bose subs are too powerful. On the input harness match the wires to the same wires from the radio and gm harness, white and grey (discard the black wire). Now the output side will be wired into the bose subs harness. Of the two remaining harness we have from the OEM headunit we will use the larger one. From the SVEN2 output harness take the grey/black and white/black wire and splice them into the light blue wire. Take the grey wire and connect it to tan/black, connect the white wire to light green/black.

dont forget to tie blue wire from gm harness to amp turn on wire from ur radio

So you are saying that the front 3.5" speakers are powered by the sub amp at each respective sub? And the rear speakers are powered by the head unit itself?

No. the front speakers and subs share the same mounting plate. The subs are powered by an amp that you'll have to give power to. I think the wire is blue.

The front 3.5 and rear speakers are not amplified, just the front woofers are. I used a PAC oem vette1 kit for mine,I think you can also use sven 2.Just use the power from the HU to power the rears.

OK, sven2 or pac........front subs?
Aftermarket HU front 3.5 and rear?

If the high output for the front is running the sven2, then what is supposed to power the 3.5"?

Are the 3.5" tied into the front subs?
Is there separate wiring for the front 3.5" speakers?

Rear is easy...........rear HU powers rear speakers.

OK. Wire the front speakers the same as the rears. That will give you your speakers. A minimum output of 4V is required to power the SVEN2, so check the specs on your new HU. When I wired up mine, I used t-tap connectors to splice into the front speaker wires to the SVEN2. I followed the rest of the instructions given to me and spliced the other wires as well.

MAKE SURE YOU GIVE POWER TO THE SUBS. On my harness, I used a Blue/white wire and connected that to the factory blue wire (sub power) on the main connector.

Not sure if you got this, but you'll have to use a separate power source to give power to your new HU. I run a wire under the passenger footwell and spliced one of the yellow wires. Use a voltmeter to find the right one. If I remember and bored enough, I'll draw a schematic of everything.

Mine is 2V, but I have seen were some forum members hook up the SVEN2 to the high output wires of the HU. That's the beauty of the SVEN, many diff combos to do whatever you need to.

Got it, ......I know I can figure it out once I get into it, just easier to ask someone who has done it before to save time.
