Default kenwood nav vs avic fb90t

I've been threading some threads and people say that the avic f90bt nav is terrible compared to the kenwood. (5120,7120,8120). What exactly is horrible? Accuracy? The actual map itself? etc. Does it not reroute if you make a wrong turn? is the ETA wrong? etc?

Thanks for your input

Dont know what makes them bad, but I just put a kenwood DNX 8120 in my truck, and it rocks! Lots of options, USB,IPOD, DC/DVD, Bluetooth, list goes on. Uses Garmin GPS, which, from what I heard, uses the most and fastest satilites right now.

the only thing i give the pioneer is its user interface is a lil easier to use, the big drawbacks are it doesnt have garmin based nav like the kenwood, and it runs windows mobile so it actually boots up like 45 seconds when u start the car.

who's maps does the avic use? also, how are the kenwood maps updated? noticed it doesnt have an sd slot. (avic does for this purpose, i guess)

also the bootup issue i read was resolved with the 2.0 update. don't know.

I run a Two Pioneer AVIC F90BT in my vette and DD. I personally looked and used the Kenwood units at FRYS and I will take the Pioneer over any Kenwood all day long.

My systems are not solely based off having Garmin based nav give me a break sound quality, usability, IPOD interface, flexibility to modify you operating system, control of everything XM,Sirius,HD, IPOD, Backup Camera, easly hacked, DVD lockout is a snap to bypass, Play movies/videos from IPOD thru unit easly. MSN Direct control I could go on and on.

My boot up is less than 15 seconds so I don't know what that is all about. Kenwood new 9120 which is 2K is just catching up to Pioneers line up right now. Everything that unit does my 90BT already does. My advice is to check the units out for yourself and make your own choice

thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, the local car audio places only carry one or the other, but not both, to do a side by side hands on comparison. I definitely want to play around with each before pulling the trigger.

I am personally leaning toward the Kenwood(5140) for my C4. I don't have any experience with either unit other than from having Pioneers years ago. The main reason I am leaning towards the Kenwood is because of the Garmin GPS. I have a Garmin Nuvi now and I love it. I would hate to spend that kind of money and be disappointed with a major part of the unit.

I dropped a Kenwood 7120 in my C5Z over a year ago and absolutely love it in all respects. You can play MP3's directly from a USB memory stick and I find the GUI very intuitive. The NAV is great too, especially compared to the Denso NAV unit in my C6. And as the Kenwood NAV is not DVD based, it is very fast.

Go with the Kenwood, you won't go wrong

I have done a lot of research recently and I picked the f90bt. The Pioneer can do all the stuff everyone listed (except wireless remote) for the Kenwood and the sound is great. I like the expandability of the Pioneer, I hooked up the HD tuner and Sirius modules via the IP Bus. Good luck.
