I had a system installed last fall in my vet. This winter i unwired the 4 ch. amp to do some work in the back. I wrote everything done unwired it,i thought i wrote it down right. Now that ive hooked it back up everytime the radio comes on all i get is cracking & popping out of the speakers. Can someone tell me what ive done wrong, please.
Are you able to plug any other signal into your amp? An Ipod with an RCA out, a portable CD player, etc. That would rule out your head unit being fried....
Hooking up an amp is REALLY simple. You've got your power, ground, remote, Signal in, and your speakers out. It's really hard to screw that up. You may have gotten your speaker wires mixed up, and hooked up a right & left, but you should be getting something from the rears. Try and take a AA battery, and very briefly touch the positive and negative wire to the battery (off of the amp). Look at the speaker your wired to, and see of it jumps, and makes a fuzzy clicking sound if not, you may have wired the speakers incorrectly.
Did the amp go into protection mode?
I would go to Radio Shack, buy the $ 5.00 Mini plug to RCA adapter for an Ipod, and start buy ruling out your signal. Let us know what happens with that...
