hello i have a 2008 non bose corvette i bought an pioneer avic 900 for a head unit, i am going to put kicker ks 6.5 components in the door. a custom box with 1 ten inch sub. am i better off running the 6.5 kickers off the pioneer and getting a 1 channel amp to power the sub or an amp to power both the sub and kicker 6.5's? and if so what would be a nice amp to run the whole setup? thanks
Your better off getting an amp that will run your entire system. As for the brand, how much can you spend on the amp? How much power will you need for the comps and sub? Little bit more information and you will get more opinions.
Most component speakers will sound like crap driven from head power, just not enough head room to run 'em right. A 4 channel amp running in 3 channel mode would likely do you just fine, bridging the rear channels to drive the sub. As to which and how much power, well it very much depends on the sub you'll be using and what its power requirements are. Typically I'd want to use 75-100W per channel into a set of component, maybe even up to 150 depending on what they are (I don't know the kickers at all). An Alpine PDX 4.150 is a pretty flexible amp as it can drive good power for the front and bridge to 300W into 4 for sub, but you may be able to get away with a 4.100 and save a few bucks depending on how much power you need for the sub.

the stereo place recommended a 5 channel amp, their going to make me a custom box, a probass mono amp for the sub, install my pioneer avic 900, kicker 6.5 components for 995 dollars if i want the 5 channel amp it will be more, is this a good price?

Never heard of probass (sounds like crap), but I guess the price (950.00) depends on what line the kickers are (which are going to sound bright), and what kind of box they are making (fiber-glass, MDF, Molded, Rectangle, etc.). I wouldn't put kickers in my car save for their woofers, they are know for their woofers... A set of Rainbows, of Focals, or DLS, or SR6500's. Anyone of those will sound nice, provided you send clean power to them.
I agree 100% with Komoman in that you have to run amp power to your seps, as well as the Sub. Also, the four channel will do fine as he said.
