I took the plunge...
I went 0-2 trying to adapt I-pod adapters to my C6 1lt non- bose system so I decided to buy a new unit. I chose the Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD, Periphial GCMO harness and an I-pod cable. I hope that the install will go smoothly, I am a pro at taking out the dash now after the last two unsuccessful attempts. Any thoughts? Can't wait until it arrives! Thanks
Just about everything you need to know is in this thread.
You may want to have a pair of ground loop isolators handy. Many, if not most, people who keep the factory amps with an aftermarket HU have nasty alternator whine without them.
If it has it, and you want to use the auto dimming feature of the new HU, you need to tap into the signal at the AH/TC button (wires on GMCO don't work). Do a search to verify it first, but I'm pretty sure it was a gray wire w/black stripe at the button.
