Kenwood just emailed me back and said people with Macintosh have been able to update with their Bluetooth. I just went through my Bluetooth program on my Macintosh and it looks like it may do the job.
Later in the week I will give it a shot.
Thanks for the help offering to help me with the programming or sending me the dongle, I will let you know if I need it or not.
Thank you!
That's good to hear...
They sent me an updater that would work on PC only, I don't have Virtual PC, but have thought about it a couple times.
Sotware 1.4 was what I started with, once I had 1.7, it worked well.... except for my messed up LG phone that is...
The built in Bluetooth on my Macintosh is able to send files, Kenwood said that will work but they have no instructions on how to do it. I think I figured it out, I will use it the same way I grab and send photos to my cell phone.
I upgraded my with my USB flash drive. It was pretty simple. I didnt have to use a bluetooth laptop. It doesnt make any sense to only be able to update software with new technology not everyone has.
My unit is a DNX8120. Update went smooth with USB flash drive.

My understanding was that the head unit can be updated with a CD, DVD, or USB.
The BT-200 bluetooth module, had to be updated by bluetooth.
I'm certainly no expert, that's just how my install played out.
If you can upgrade the BT-200 module without using a bluetooth computer, the audio shop that did mine for me, ripped me off!
Well I used my Macintosh Bluetooth and paired it with the BT-200 and used the Bluetooth "Send File" feature to send the new update to my BT-200 and it was a success, it was very easy.
Well still got the same issues with the phone getting locked up. Checked with Kenwood and phone and phone BT version are supposed to work. Now I am waiting for Kenwood to reply to my email.

Thanks for the info.... I should have tried that. Definitely gonna remember this..!
Good luck with the phone, I had to get a different phone to get mine to work...
Well the news is that Kenwood is no help. They told me to try other phones, I tried 3 so far and same results.
I ended up dumping 2/3 of my phone book off my phone because it always locked up my phone when it was downloading and then just lock up the phone afterwards when it was done downloading my phone book. Now I only have 1/3 of my phone book on my phone it downloads fast and doesnt lock up.
Kenwood wants me to send it in and pay for repairs if needed even though I reported the same issues before the warranty was up so I told them it was my last Kenwood I would be buying.
I had this issue before and I found out if I unpluged the Bluetooth unit it would work perfect for a while and screw up again.
The phones I tried were all on the BT-200 compatible list with the correct BT firmware, 2 of the phones were the exact same model but 1 had hardly any phone numbers on it and did not lock up like my phone did. My phone only had 57 phone numbers in the phone book.
So if it locks up again I will have to continuously pull my radio and unplug the BT-200 over and over.
