Default speakers not fitting?

ive been trying to get a new set of rear speakers for my corvette (c4 1984) non bose stereo for a little bit

i went out and bought a set of panasonic 6x9's to replace the dead factory ones

but it appears the magnets were to big? and the speaker wouldnt fit properly in the hole

so i took those back and bought a set of sony xplods 6x9's that seemed slightly shallower and the same issue happened that its not going in flush

does anybody have a part number for a speaker that actully fits this thing?

You will have to measure the overall depth of the speaker when you buy them. www.crutchfield.com lists speaker depths and has a very good selection.

Heck, if you use Crutchfield they will tell you exactly which models fit.

Best Buy bl*ws. Crutchfield will get it right. Once you find speakers that will fit on their web site call and speak to their tech people. Trust me, they will find you something within your price range that fits.

Best Buy will tell you a 12" Subwoofer is safe to power off your stock radio, they have no reputation to up keep like Crutchfield.

How are you doing the front speakers?

And what is the mounting depth of the speakers you tried? I plan on putting some 6x9" speakers in the rear of my 89. Most of the ones I've seen like the Alpines I've been looking at have a mounting depth of 3".

Oh, and how do you plan on mounting the 6x9"? I know they fit in the mounting ring, but the mounting holes don't line up.
