Default 85 Stereo Install, running light pops fuse

Hey everybody! I'm having trouble with my stereo install in my 85, and im hoping somebody can give me a little advise. I pulled out the old BOSE head unit to replace with a DIN size Sony. For now im just using the rear speakers (I traced the wires from the front harness to the rear speakers to separate the amp wires from the speaker wires). I got everything hooked up, and the radio sounds great. BUT now when i turn on my running lights it blows the 10A fuse everytime i pull the ****, and the dash lights do not illuminate. The main headlights still work fine when i pull to the next position. I did have a Grey wire left over and the manual says it goes to Lights: Instrument Panel. the new deck did not have a wire to connect to so i left it disconnected like the other wires that run to the amps. Does anybody know if the Grey wire or another connection to the radio is associated to my running lights and illumination problem? Has anybody experienced this issue? Thanks alot for the help, i almost have know more hair left

-Brian

If i went from memory i may get the color codes wrong, tonight after work im going to pull it out again and i will note everything that i did. I do know for sure that i left the Gray wire described in the manual as going to the LIGHTS: INSTRAMENT PANEL disconnected as well as a single red plug that went to the back of the old deck. I believe after testing it, it was for a main AMP relay or somthing. I will post back when i have some notes on how everythign is hooked up. In the mean time do you know if leaving these disconnected could cause any problems?

Thanks

Pentavolvo.... when i went back to look at the installation and compared it to the wiring diagram in the SM i found the mistake that i had previously been missing. I had connected the Brown wire coming from the light switch incorrectly. turns out i should have just left it disconnected since the new deck internal lights are not controlled by the headlight switch. All seems to be A OK now, leaving the brown, grey and single red connections disconnected. thanks for taking the time to help, if you hadn't asked how i hooked it up i may not have went through the install again and kept searching for another problem.

Regards,

Brian
