The DNX-9140 has been working fine for a couple of weeks. Today, the radio rebooted while going down the road. This was the first time that this had happened to me, but I have heard of it happening to others, so I didn't think too much about it. When I got home, the Kenwood would not power down after shutting off the engine and opening the door. I had to turn it off to shut it down. I tried turning the accessory on, powering it back up and turning accessory off and opening the door. It stayed on. I turned it off and went into the house. About an hour later, I returned to start troubleshooting. Now it won't come back on. The red light in the bottom left is flashing, but the radio will not turn on.
I have done some troubleshooting, but not sure where to look from here. This is what I have done.
1. Checked all of the fuses in the car.
2. Plugged my OEM stereo up and it works fine. Powers up and down as it is supposed to.
3. The relay past the GMAH24B is not working.
4. The yellow wire to the relay has power.
5. Neither red wire (in and out) has power when the switch is on or off.
6. Chime module is working.
It seems to me that the GMAH24B may be the issue. No power coming out from the GMAH24B on the red wire when ignition is on. I think this should be the trigger wire to energize the relay. I can't find an accessory wire coming into the GMAH24B. I suppose this is somehow handled by the data bus.
Any thoughts or suggestions on how to proceed or what may be wrong? I could jump the wire on the relay to see if the radio would then power up. If it works, and since the old radio works off the stock wiring, then that is the only thing left.
Try bypassing the GMAH24 power wire. You could run a temporary wire right from the battery. If the radio powers up it is the GMAH24 that is the issue. If the HU does not power up I would suspect the HU is bad.
I jumped the relay and the head unit works fine. Must be the GMAH24B. Onstar still works. It seems the only issue is with the red trigger wire coming out of the GMAH24B.
u can tap a fuse in the passenger kickpanel that is a switched ignition so when u turn the car off the radio will turn off it wont stay on till u open the door
there is a smaller fuse box with a plastic cover on it to the right of the main fuse box in the kickpanel, it has 2 wiper fuses i believe one is wiper and one is wiper dwell, the plain old wiper is the one you want that is swtiched
