So I have had an Escort 8500 for about 6 years now and have loved it's performance. I was considering getting the new 9500ix since it is GPS enabled to block out false alarms.
Just found out today that they have a new model called the Redline coming out. Anyone on here in the know about this new detector? Based on the Escort site, it doesn't look like the GPS technology is on this new model.
Also, if any of you have a 9500ix, can you tell how well the GPS features work?
I am in the market for one of the mentioned also. I have done all the reading about the Redline I could find. There is no GPS feature. It has a long range, as much as 12 miles I've read. I don't think I need 12 miles worth of warning. It seems as though it going to be great for folks that do a lot of enterstate driving. I believe the 9500ix is better suited for both city and highway driving. Personally, I'm not going to wait for the Redline to be released. I have compared the Valentine as well. Most guys in my club swear by the Valentine and like the arrows. They are loyal to Valentine. The other folks that have the 9500ix love the unit and are also loyal. So, who do you believe. Personally, I think they both are great units and will do the job. I think the best would be a combination of the two. A 9500ix with arrows. Until then, I'm leaning to the 9500ix. I don't really care where the threat is located. Left, right side of the road, who cares? Just slow down until the threat is gone. They both will tell you that a threat exsist and to slow down. I like the GPS feature and the ablility to lock out false alerts with the GPS enabled 9500ix. Best bet is to google them and start reading. Great prices on Amazon for the 9500ix, around $425.00 delivered. Good luck.
I have a good buddy with the Valentine and while I like it, it doesn't offer any more protection than Escort. We actually put the Escort 8500 and Valentine next to each other on a drive across Pennsylvania and both detectors were announcing threats within well under a second of each other.
Based on your input I think I may go with the 9500ix for the GPS. I've never had an issue with the range of my detector. Too bad the Redline doesn't integrate the GPS also.
If got the 8500 with the ZR4 jammers and I'm interested in the Redline also after I got a e-mail from Escort about it. I'm still trying to find out if it's compatible with the ZR4 but haven't found anything that say's it is. Looks like a nice upgrade in the Escort line.
Bit the bullet and just placed an order for a 9800ix from Amazon. I also ordered a power cable for the mirror power from a forum vendor. I didn't order my detector from a forum vendor because they are too expensive, and I don't need all the "free" accessories they were throwing in. Paid $421.00 delivered from Amazon. I wasn't impressed with 4 red arrows on the V1. If there is a threat out there I'm slowing down. I don't care where it is. Also GPS speed, location, distance and speedtrap info given along with the blue display pushed my decision. Basically, they both perform good, just wanted what looked better in the car.
I would also like to hear how accurate the speed camera warnings are. There aren't any where I currently live but I know they are probably on the way so its a feature I'd really like to have.
I've had a V1 for years and am considering going to the new Escorts (ix) but would like to see some real world feedback first
Cheers...
I'll be sure to write something up. If you find them on Amazon take a look at the write up and the reviews. They get very high marks.
To the poster about red light cameras, I used to have one about a mile from my house but they took it down about a year ago. Not sure why. I'm not aware of any near by, but if this thing works as advertized I'll let you know. I'm looking forward to getting it within the week. v

I've got both the 9500ix and the V1. While I love the arrows the 9500ix gets used more since it has learned to filter out every false alert on my regular routes.

That to me sounds great - - I've trained myself over the years to tap the power button on the V1 to semi-mute the alert in areas I know are false alarms
I have had the last three generations of the Passport. Two of the three died within the first month of usage. The 9500ix lasted less than three hours. I like the protection, but question the quality.

First I have ever heard of this. Are you sure you don't have a 15+ volt power supply burning them up? This is a first that I have seen including a Google search on this.
