Amp and Speaker Feedback

Amp and Speaker Recommendations
Installed a Kenwood DNX-8120 in January and just used the Bose amp/speakers. I am now ready to upgrade and would like some feedback/recommendations on what I am contemplating.
Alpine PDX-5 amp or Alpine 4.150 amp
Alpine SPX-17pro component speakers or JL ZR650-CSI components
I may hold off on the sub for a while due to monetary reasons.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated or recommendation of other setups.

i can't give you a recommendation, but i'm about to do something similar. I'm going to ditch the nav/bose completely. I think the system plain just sucks. my bose system in my 96z28 still sounds better than the system in my z06. it's a real shame what they did here.
I'm going with the dnx 9140, 10 JLw3v3 and only a front stage (using dave's box in the passenger well). so the only thing I'm trying to figure out is what i want to put into the doors. I'm leaning for a nice set of boston acoustics 6.5 components. The amp will be a JL digital 5 channel that can do 150 each and I think 500 to the sub. this is the amp i'm leaning toward right now. http://www.jlaudio.com/mobile/produc...php?amp_id=537
I did hear those ZR speakers yesterday at ABT electronics (here in chicago) with a 10w3v3 and the sound was really nice and tight. They were about 800 or so?
