If you combine all the cone area of 100 2" midrange drivers that's ~215 square inches, just a tick under the total of two 12" subs.

Are those mids, or tweeters? I was thinking the guy was hitting middle age, starting to lose his high frequency hearing, and was slightly overcompensating... just a bit... 
Either that, or this is the prototype for a new "mobile digital sound projector" to be offered as an option by GM in the Corvettes. Chevy finally heard all of the Bose complaints, and have hired Yamaha instead!
