I have the D3 and MTX 704X amp after about ten minutes it cuts off , the light flashes and the amp is hot as a **** , is this thing too weak , its a 4 channel 420 watt , I have 4 speakers and the sub hooked ,10" sub ,sounds great whens its working ... I was messing around with it and now have a really high whine that follows RPMs, I had to pull the fuse on the amp because it was so bad, any ideas, it was not there before ???
What are the ohm's of the speakers? I'm sure you are pushing the **** out of it at some ungodly ohm's and the sub on top of it is too much. Did this just start? You need a ground loop isolater for the wine -- it plugs inline with the rca's from the reciever and kills the wine.
I will have the guy that is checking tell me what the ohms are. THe whine just started, I might have hooked it back up cockeyed or something , but it getting hot and cutting out is not new. I mean it gets very hot to the touch , I have it mounted on the back of hatch , no air under it . Thanks for any and all help, it sounds great when its working but cuts out ..
If you do have a pioneer unit and its under warranty, your local warranty provider can replace the "picofuse."
If you unplug or fiddle with an rca cable with your pioneer unit powered, you will break it.
As far as the amplifier... To me the amp sounds like it is running at too low of an ohm load. This makes the amp put out more power but usually causes quick overheating problems. You should be able to wire them different to raise the load back up but you may have to crank the gain up a bit or just turn the volume up a few more clicks to get the same volume out of it.
NOt under warranty , I am going to try grounding the RCA at the head unit and see how that works and see about different wiring of the speakers , thanks for help
As per other thread , grounded RCA cured the whine , also just ordered a mono amp for the sub , hope this will cure all my problems
