I have a space issue and have a question. I'll be using a 12 inch sub and need to mount its amp on a panel that will be connected to the sub box. Will this be a problem? Tha amp wont be mounted directly to the sub box but I'm sure some vibration will transfer to the adjacent panel it will be mounted on.
An amp gets a ton of vibration just being mounted to a car
If you are really concerned, get some ~1/4" thick rubber washers (or bushings) and mount them on the screws between the amp and sub box.
Yeah, the feet should provide some level of vibration reduction. Just don't crank the screws down super tight and squish the bushing. Just tight enough that the amp doesn't feel loose.
Will I have a problem with power supply. Its a 120 amp alternator and I'll be running the 700 watt sony for the speakers and a 400 watt jensen for the sub? Do I need a cap, and if so what would you recommend? Is the install difficult?
Have the Jensen, I know its not the best but its a budget build to get started and I can upgrade amps easily later if need be. Whats big 3?? 3 gauge wire??
"Big 3" is what they call the three big wires that connect the alternator and battery to each other and the frame. There's a DIY link in the C5 FAQ that doesn't seem to be working, or just google it.
