As for the speakers you mentioned, MBQ's tend to be very bright, Boston Pro's are pretty much the opposite, very laid back.
The Focal's are a little more on the bright side, and IMHO stay away from the TN45 tweet, just very bright, and can be very harsh in the car.
For that price range, see if you can listen to some of the Pioneer Premier PRS720 6.75" components. Right around $250 and very solid performance for the dollar. Just plan on sending them at least 75w per side via an amp.

I can get MB Quartz as well if there is something specific your looking for.

I've ordered a set of the 5.25's to play with in the future, but I haven't used a set of A/D/S components in years, so it will be hard for me to make the comparison. But if you were happy with the A/D/S components in the past, my guess is you won't like the MB Q's. Completely different approach to sound reproduction. And in the Vette, the MB's will most likely sound too bright and forward... especially if you're putting them in the stock location on top of the door. The older QSD/QSC's sound good (and I have a set that I'll be installing some time this winter), but placement and tuning is key.

I bought a set on Fej's recommendation, and I have to say that they sound really good.
Some folks have changed the tweeters on that set to something a bit more laid back and can handle a bit more power, but the mid driver is very hard to beat. Very low distortion from what I saw of the graphs. (And heard in person.)

Focal has always sounded good to me, but it's hard to find a dealer that has them on display around here. (Gotta go to Tulsa or Texas.)
