Default Need help picking a sub for my C6

I purchased a C6 sub box from Madvette Motorsports and I cant decide on what sub to use. I was looking at the Jl Audio 10W3 V3 and the Re Audio subs. The box has a 6 inch mounting depth. If anybody has any advice or suggestions I surely would appreciate it.

How much $$$ are you willing to spend? I know I could have done better, but I'm happy with my Polk db1040. The fact that it only cost me $50 makes it even better

I would suggest the image dynamics idq10v3, but if you already have the box, it is probably cut for a 9 1/8" opening and the ID needs a 9.6" opening. Dave sells these, I just ordered a box and that ID sub from him. The JL 10w3v3 is a nice sub and should mate perfectly with the box. I'd just go with it. Feed it with 250-500 watts and enjoy.

The RE Audio subs may not work well with MadVette's boxes. The clearance between the box and the roof panel when stored is very small. Most of RE Audio's designs (except the ReX) extend above the mounting surface by a considerable amount. You could probably use the ReX, but make sure it (or any of the other RE subs) will fit, or that you can return the woofer if it doesn't.

The JL 10v3's will fit due to the low profile.

I was planning on using one of Rockford Fosgate's Punch 3 shallow mount speakers, but the top was compressing the foam surround of the woofer cone. I had to switch to a different box, or buy the JL.

Check the "white papers" of the sub what you need to know is the internal volume of the box and then find a sub that will work in that volume. Next you need to pick one that can handle the power you have, no need buying a 1200.00 sub if your going to only have a 100w amp. Next look at the 3db down spec. at the box volume then check speaker efficiency( db @ 1w/1m). I'm sure every installer has his or her own way of picking subs. I the speaker world there are only a hand full of speaker manufactures that brand items for everyone . Buy something that you can get some help with box design or at least some input from the manufacture on box size . A cheap speaker in a good box will sound better than a expensive speaker in a improperly sized or poorly built box.
